FAQs
Where do you perform weddings?
We are Seattle wedding officiants and perform weddings in Western Washington. We are happy to travel (planes, trains, and automobiles!) but please note that travel fees apply (see pricing). Our travel range includes the following counties: Island, King, Kitsap, Pierce, San Juan, Skagit, Snohomish, and Thurston. RJ will also consider ceremonies in the following counties on a case-by-case basis: Clallam, Grays Harbor, Jefferson, Mason, and Whatcom.
How far in advance should I book an officiant?
This is one of the wedding components that people often forget about until the last minute! While some officiants (us included) can sometimes make it work with short notice, we find that it’s best to have at least 2 months to work on your ceremony script. We book up to 6 months in advance. Please note that each of our ceremony packages require a different lead time. See pricing for more details.
Do you perform elopements?
Absolutely! We do ask for at least 10 days notice but depending on our availability/the distance it’s always worth a shot :). Check out the elopement options on the pricing page and fill out the inquiry form or email us. Don’t forget you’ll need witnesses (at least 2 are required in Washington)!
Do you perform Zoom/online weddings?
State laws regarding virtual/online weddings vary. We’re happy to work with you to see what might be possible in your area!
Do you attend our rehearsal?
The rehearsal is a really important step for those with loved ones participating in the ceremony (e.g. wedding party, readings, etc.). However, the rehearsal is about the choreography of the ceremony, not the ceremony itself! Our job remains the same at each wedding, so instead of attending rehearsals, we send detailed notes to your wedding planner/day-of coordinator who is running your rehearsal. We promise everything will go smoothly on your big day :).
Who are you ordained by? Are you religiously affiliated?
We are non-denominational minister ordained through both the Universal Life Church and American Marriage Ministries. Washington requires that your marriage license lists whether your ceremony was “civil” or “religious” - by this definition our ceremonies are considered religious. \
Can we personalize our ceremony?
Absolutely - no two ceremonies are the same.
We come from different religious backgrounds and wish to incorporate different traditions. Can you officiate an interfaith wedding? How does an interfaith wedding work?
We would love to! Hillary comes from a mixed religion family (her parents had three officiants at their wedding!) and loves incorporating different elements of your backgrounds, cultures, and traditions. We’ll work closely with you to ensure the ceremony includes whatever traditions you want. Just keep in mind that our ordainments & affiliations do not translate into many faith communities’ policies regarding weddings and a traditional religious ceremony should be performed by someone officially ordained through that religion.
How much does an officiant cost?
Most officiants offer a variety of packages. You can see our packages + add-ons on the Pricing page.
Can we involve children and/or pets in the ceremony?
We love kids and pets! Our consultation time can include brainstorming ways to include these special members of your families in your day.
What will you wear during our ceremony?
We will always give you the opportunity to request specific colors! If you don’t have a preference, we default to neutral colors like black, navy blue, and grey.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash and payments through Venmo, Apple Cash, and PayPal.
